2005 Rifle Match Program

Silhouette

I regret to say that CRSSA has not applied for NRA -Approved Silhouette matches for 2007 due to lack of participation.

We may pick it up again in the future, however. I have kept the information posted in our website below, in case we may have shooters who are interested in continuing with our Silhouette Program.

Cross Roads Sport Shooting Association sponsors NRA -Approved

Smallbore Rifle Silhouette Matches (rule 7.2). The competitors shoot the course of fire from

a standing (off-hand) position using the following targets and time limits:

Shooters will pair-up in teams of two. Each team will draw to see which bank

of animals they will start with, then rotate. There are no limitations on magnification allowed

in scopes. Shooters now use a 10X or 12X scope, however, many still use a lower power.

Seldom use less than a 6X.

Time limits (rule 8.2) will include an allowance of 2 1/2 minutes per bank of five animals.

For more detailed info on time limits, refer to NRA rule book or contact CRSSA.

Coaching IS allowed in this game. A good coach can make a great deal of difference,

although the individual shooter still has to perform to the best of his ability in order to win.

"Siluetas Metalicas", the original name from the original game - High-Power Rifle, used in

Old Mexico back in the 1950's, was introduced into the U.S. in the early 1960's.

When the Siluetas game was brought across the border into Arizona, the Mexican rules

were adopted with very few changes. Probably the most significant one being the addition of horns

to the ram to give it the appearance of a Rocky Mountain sheep rather than a domestic sheep.

NRA established standardized rules in cooperation with United States Silueta Association (USSA)

and the International Handgun Metallic Silhouette Associaiton (IHMSA).
